Financial Ombudsman Service

Could anyone who has complained to the FOS let me know how long it took before they looked into your complaint? I wrote to them in November last year. I have had several holding letters to advise that, due to workload, my complaint hasn't yet been assigned to an adjudicator (the last letter was in March). I'm just wondering if this is normal - I appreciate that as the financial ombudsman they are probably the busiest ombudsman department around - but would just like to know if this is timescale is fairly average? Can anyone tell me?

due to the number of PPI and bank hardship claims going on the FOS is suffering a significant backlog and timescales of 18-24 months are now common.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

I spoke to them yesterday to enquire about logging a claim with them and i was told by a very nice and very apologetic lady that calims are now taking a year from start to outcome.
Its a long wait and process.
I have decided to process my claim. So im in the queue.
    Hope this helps you
