Pet insurance - market value of a cat

Hi,

Our 2 year old cat passed away a few months ago after being hit by a car. Were just going through the insurance and they said if we are unable to find the receipt of when we purchased her as a kitten they will pay market value.

Im just wondering if anyone knows how they work out the market value of a cat? She was a 2 year old long haired moggy.

Thanks

Do you remember how much you paid? One of mine was free and the other was £5 or so (13 years ago).

I've just seen a five year old cat advertised in the paper for £30 - I suspect they are only asking for that to ensure that she goes to someone who really wants her.

Rescue cats are about £50 but that is really only because it goes to help cover the vets fees, including chipping....

When I first read this post I wondered if it were for real. Your pet gets killed & an insurance company talks about the market value of your cat.

My cat is 12 this year & my son paid £25 for him. His value to me is priceless though & no amount of money would compensate for his loss.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
