cheap meat - but not value?

I buy most of my meat when its reduced at the supermarket and stick it in the freezer. Normally stuff we wouldn't buy, lamb, good pork chops (not the value), free range chicken etc.
I wouldn't buy cheap mince either, always go for the extra lean if you can.
We can eat very well with the whoopsy shopping!0 -
I made a casserole using Tesco (not value) frozen diced casserole lamb (they also do beef) which was 500g for £2.46 (ish!?). Twas delicious and would be good in the SC! HTH x0

Here's a few I'm planning to get next week:
Tesco pork leg £3/kg
Sainsbury's Basics Beef Roasting Joint £4.98 / Kg0 -
Turkey mince or diced turkey pieces.... cheap, healthy, nourishing and tasty!0

I would not dismiss meat just because its vaue. They can be on vaue lines as they do not meat size specs, or a blood spot. nutritionaly or taste wise they can be as good as premuim ranges.0

Just bought 1.71 kg of mini chicken breast fillets in Costco for £9. Cooked some, frozen lots. Will make some good cheap meals and really nice to eat too as such good quality.0

If you have a big enough freezer, and/or can get other family/friends together, it might be worth buying half a pig/cow/sheep direct from the farm (pre-butchered)... so you know what you are getting and would work out cheaper.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
I've thought about that myself oliveoyl, problem is butchering it.0

Some places will butcher it for you and send it all bagged up... including making sausages. Google for suppliers in your area or have a look at this site http://www.handmademeat.co.uk/TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
