Tesco CC - Confused on T&C.

I was planning to apply for the Tesco CC to fund a purchase of about £1000 and take advantage of the 12 month interest free period. I was assuming that the interest free period meant that as long as I paid at least the minimum monthly payment each month I would have 12 months to pay for the purchase off in full.

So I am confused with the T&C of the Tesco CC as taken off their website.
Interest Free Period

• Maximum 51 days for purchases if you pay your balance in full and on time, and have paid the previous month’s balance in full and on time.

Am I misunderstanding 'interest free periods' ? Will I only have 51 days to pay for the purchase in full, not 12 months?

The reference to 51 days is their 'standard' conditions which will apply once your promotion offer of 12 interest free is over.
