how much you all spend on electric in a quarter?
I've just got my leccy bill and am a bit peeved to say the least!
I pay £40 a month thru PO onto card.
I have a washing machine and dishwasher - both energy A, which are both on about 3 times a week. I don't have a tumble dryer.
I have a computer, tv etc - nothing out of the ordinary. I switch off all electric but the plug at night so nothing is on stand by.
The bill says I owe them £68 - I owed them £20 from last bill so £20 of the £120 went to that, but even so is £148 not a bit steep for a quarter?
???

We don't have a dishwasher but do have a tumble drier which is used regularly. We pay £33 per month by direct debit and this usually covers the bill0

Just the two of us. Washing machine on 2-3 times per week, Tumble dryer on about 3 times per week, dishwasher on twice per week. Oil fired central heating, large modern house with virtually every electric appliance going. Pay £25 per month and currently have a small credit.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
My cooker is on it's last legs. It has a small hole in the back of it - probably dangerous so I'm looking for a new one and am not using it too much. Is it possible that this hole could somehow be making use more leccy? Sorry if that's really thick but it's the only thing I can think of as there are only 2 adults and a 2 year old in the house!0

£65 per month here/ Oil fired heating, washing machine tumble drier two freezers - no immersion heater. 3 in the house.0

Over the last year
I have got a new fridge and tv and my bill has gone down by £5 per quarter. Fridge & TV were ancient now disposed off in local council dump.

Goodness me! I don't know how you get through £65 a month.
We spend around £20 and there's 2 of us. Presume you have an electric cooker, but apart from that you sound the same as us in terms of appliances.
Do you use the TD all the time instead of letting stuff dry naturally?0 -
No tumble dryer, pc on a lot, although a meter reader told me they don't burn much anyway ( that was 5 years ago btw!)
£40 pm house of four 3/4 of them haven't learnt how to turn of lights yet!!0 -
Thanks for all your replies.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a meter in. Does anyone know how you go about that? Do you have to pay for it? Cheers!0 -
Very interested to see this thread as I pay NIE via monthly direct debit and over the last two years they have increased it from £39 to £49 and now £59. A new house was built beside me about 18 months ago and I'm convinced I'm paying part of their bill. Sounds mad I know but the cost of electricity just keeps rising for me. Family of 5, electric cooker, oil central heating and yes, tumble dryer on far more than it should be. Any thoughts?0

£65 pm by direct debit - saves 4%.
Tumble dryer on nearly every day, ofch, several tvs, pcs, electric cooker, kettle, microwave, fishtank, lights left on all night (10W), plus lots of other wasteful things.0
