Hi all,
Not sure if this is the best place to put this but any help is much appreciated.
I got a new PS3 yesterday as part of a phone deal and popped out to buy a couple of the cheap BOGOF games from Comet. Anyway i managed to get Ratchet and Clank as part of the deal but when i've got it home and tried to play it i am getting an error message saying that the HDD is full. The HDD isn't full in fact it's pretty much empty as i've just got the console. I've also been able to play on both singstar and PES2009 with no problems both in playing or in saving. Anyone know why this might have happened?
I havent connected the console to the internet or anything and really havent got a clue why one games would say there is no space but the rest are all fine.
Oh and does anyone know if i there is a way to use PS2 controllers for the PS3 or do i have to pop out and buy another one.
Thanks and any help is much appreciated

You can use PS2 controllers by buying a special adaptor, although of course you won't get the Sixaxis functions, or analog L2/R2 buttons
As for the game, have you got anyone else with a PS3 to test it in? That way you can work out whether the game or the console is not working as it should.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Unfortunately noone near by has a PS3 that i know so can't check the game in another console. I might have to pop back to comet and get them to try it in there machine.0 -
Yeah, they shouldn't have a problem with that.
Also here's the deeley that'll convert the controller

what size is the hard drive? 40gb or 80gb?
what does it say under settings > system settings > system information (you just need to look at line that says xxGB / xxGB)?
did singstar & pes need installing to the hard drive before you played them?0 -
Hi GG,
Its a 80GB and under the system settings it says 64GB/74GB.
What do you mean by need installing first?
They both worked fine by just putting the games in, although both of them now have saved game files on the HD which i think were created while the games were loading (if that makes sense?)0 -
its just games like GTA4 & littlebigplanet need data installed to the hard drive to speed up the loading times. its nothing to do with save game files that keep track of the progress through the game.
is there anything relating to ratchet & clank in Game > Game data utility?
if there is, press triangle and select delete. also do the same if there is any R&C save data in saved data utility then try loading the game again0 -
GG,
Thanks but there isn't any mention of R&C anywhere in the HD section.
Do you think it might be worth trying to reboot the system?0 -
yep, try a restart.
also make sure that the R&C blu-ray is clean0 -
Guys,
Thanks for all of your help. I've just had a search on the net and come up with this, so it looks like it's just an issue with the game and not the actual console.
Thanks again

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction has a few technical issues. They are listed below.
HDD glitch
It was found that on release, some users were not able to load the game with a message claiming there was not enough free space to store game data on the hard drive, despite the drive being far from full. A workaround for this hard drive issue was released, requiring users to add or delete approximately 500 MB of content to or from the hard drive (the game's demo itself is a prime example.), after which the game should load normally.
Also you can create new user profile and download it to that. Check the previous file and try to play it.0 -
Yep, it's a known common glitch with Ratchet, a little delete will get you going...What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0
