My Halifax card no longer works online

Hi all,
I am so very frustrated at the moment... I have a Halifax Easycash account since August last year which comes with a visa electron card.. I have had no issues what so ever until about 2 weeks ago.. All of a sudden it is getting declined when I try to pay for things over the phone or online... I can still use it to get cash out of ATM's and it still works when paying at chip and pin outlets..
1) I have money in my account
2) My last successful online payment was on Entropay on 16th May 09
3) now everywhere online and phone gets declined to name a few Amazon.co.uk (has worked previously) Entropay (last worked 16th may) Vodafone mobile (over the phone has worked previously)
4) I have rang halifax multipule times in the last two weeks with increasingly frustrating results the last one being last night when I talked to the most un-helpful person I have ever spoken to in my life who told me that "it was nothing to do with them sorry".... The outcome of the other calls were that I should contact the merchant as it is a problem at there end, which I did and was told that it was a problem with halifax.... Then I have recently been told that "it's because you have a visa elctron card, some places dont take visa electron"... This I understand but as I have tried to explain all the places I use, do take Visa electron and have been used successfully many many times before..
5) So now I am left stranded and very frustrated.. Halifax refuse to accept there is a problem as my account has funds and there is no flags... and use the excuse its a Visa electron
Has anyone experienced this before and if so is there anything I can do.. Any help would be greatfully accepted

You dont mention if you have asked the retailers if they have stopped accepting electron

yes I have asked both vodafone and Amazon and the still accept Electron and they do..0

Have halifax said the payment is showing on the system and has been declined or is it not showing on their system at all.
If it isnt showing the problem is with the retailer. If it is showing then they must be able to give you an indication of why its declined0 -

Not sure if this helps but a while ago, suddenly we could not use our Electron Card. After much embarrassment in a shop and phone calls to Halifax, (they refused to accept it was their fault). Read my thread:

They havn't said.. all they tell me is that everything is ok on my account... I will ask them tonight when I ring them again...
