Dell - payment taken but order cancelled

I have a "friend" who works at dell sales and sent him your complaint, just to see if he could give a contact or something to help you. He explained that this does happen from time to time and reckoned that Dell had not taken the money from your card - but they had put a claim on it. The long and the short of it is that you won't actually have to pay the money, but in the meantime you can't use your card. He said it should be about a week until the "charges drop off".
I'm so sorry - I'd still keep banging on at Dell but he didn't reckon you'd be out of pocket....0 -
This little tale has put me off Dell big time. At least if you buy at PC World, you can have a box in your trolly when you hand over the money. Never had a problem taking things back there if they are faulty.
Good luck sorting out Dell, rather you than me.0 -
contact watchdog, they may be doing a story on dell very very soon, have just been talking to the researcher so they might be interested in this story as well
good luck

I would not go near pc world with a 50ft barge pole.
Also we have used dell loads and loads of times. My dad is a computer consultant and basically tells people to go for dells if they want a new computer. All in all we have prob got about 10-20 people to order dells and never once have we had a problem with them. The delivery has always been within 3-5 days.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
This is one of those stories heard time and time again where the company being dealt with are useless - if at all possible (and don't know if it is applicable to the OP) but always use a credit card, even if you have the cash, and pay it off when you get the credit card statement. If there are any problems with the order or the supply of the goods, the credit card company will usually step in to sort it out, and you will not have £000's of your hard earned disappearing from your account.0

Dell took £349 from my account for an order i cancelled because it'll be quicker to order via the internet.
It's also because of a customer rep from india who processed the order even though i didn't give him the authorization to process the order and i called and emailed him saying that i wish to cancel the order.
It's been two weeks now and i haven't received the refund.0 -

I first tried to purchase a laptop for my son's birthday from Dell on-line etc etc
They say I ordered 3 computers.. NO.
I am now broke, I have contacted the fraud dept of my bank who have shut my acc and are following up the fraud. Trading standards who have told me to write to all the availaible Dell addresses.
I am about to walk down to the police station, ((as I really have no money for petrol as Dell have it all !!)) Can someone please help.."
Thanks
