Dont think I have seen this mentioned but I always take spray oil for cooking - it is a lot less messy and unlikely to leak.0

Some very good tips on this thread... I'll add my bit
Roll mats are warmer than big airbeds... and take less time to set up.
A good sleeping bag is the most important thing!
Legs and crocs or wellies dry quicker than trousers socks and hiking boots or trainers. - however crocs arn't good for pushing pegs in...
Ziplock bags to keep phone in while in the tent - stops condensation making it wet.
Take plenty of bin bags.... they're useful for everything.
Keep food simple.
Always put your Pjs on... Sometimes it may be tempting to leave on your nice warm clothes that you put on after tea... don't - you sweat in them and then end up cooling down when you go to sleep.
Have fun

Keep food simple.
Very good point but I will add to it....
Keep food simple but keep it damn tasty.... especially if its wet and windy, the last thing you want is to be hungry and with nothing to look forward to.
On a weekend we always go for a barbecue option one night and then eat out somewhere the other night. For breakfasts we always go for it with bacon, eggs, sausage, beans, fresh bread.... especially if there are a few people all with their own cookers and people can all cook one or two items...
Having loads of tasty food can make or break the trip for me and nothing starts off or finishes a long hard day walking / exploring / cycling like a big fry up / barbecue.0 -
I've seen that Asda are selling a few camping bits at the mo. Some of the itmes I might be interested in are a tent '2-man' for £10 or '3-man' for £25, a pvc poncho for about £2, and a headtorch for about £5. Are any of these any good? One thing I did notice is, that by the look of the pictures on the tents packaging they don't seem to have an inner lining!!0

Have recently got a camping fridge, runs on a gas cylinder. Nice to keep the milk fresh (and the beer cold!)
its worth looking on ebay for what you want, last week we bought a job lot of camping gear, including 2 8 man tents,(one is selling new on ebay for £249) and a trailer, there were loads of stuff , 2 cookers, stand, lanterns, a loo, wardrobe, storage, and bits and bobs, we got it all for £500, and the man delivered it all to us on the same day,
it's worth a lookwins so far:- absolutely nothing, not even an arguement:mad:0
