“Printer Ink” site:forums.moneysavingexpert.com

Options
Until fairly recently, I could paste something like:
“Printer Ink” site:forums.moneysavingexpert.com
into Google and get a list of all the discussions and tips on this forum about "Printer Ink", without bothering about upper and lower case characters.
Quite frankly a better method of searching than MSE's own search function; especially when coupled with "search amongst results" and a quick look at the super fast Google cache, rather than the actual MSE forum..

It seems not to be working for me any more, I just get a few results and them lots of garbage about other sites quoting MSE.
Do other people have this seeming change in Google functionality?
Any one know why?
Is this the time to brush up MSE's own seach function?

If it's what I think it is, this should shed some light on the matter.

Thanks for that - it is an education.

I know my son has put his wedding photos up on his web site and the "tilda" in the address seems to stop Google finding them.

However, why would Martin want to keep Google out of MSE?
Isn't it more likely that Google is no longer able to keep up with the growth of the web and is being selective about what it finds?

Looks like they've disallowed crawling of most of the server-generated pages. Probably to reduce the load on the site and make it run faster. Google and the like can generate a hell of a lot of traffic and load on the server which in forums used as heavily as these will actually impact on usability for members.

    Results 91 - 100 of about 186 from forums.moneysavingexpert.com for “Printer Ink”. (0.20 seconds)

Please moneysavers check if your question has already been answered already before asking it again.
(I think I will scream if I see another thread explaining that the tax man gives an allowance against taxed pay or profits of 0.40 GBP per mile for the first 10K miles and then 0.25 pence thereafter per annum for use of your own vehicle. (damn I've posted it again:D) Much more interestingly you can claim 0.20 GBP per mile for use of your own push bike:j).
