Completing on new flat

Question for those in the know.
We have been waiting a year for our new build flat to be ready. The development got it's NHBC certificate last week and the developers served notice to complete to our solicitors (have to complete within 14 days).
We decided to get completion for tomorrow as our mortgage offer runs out next Friday and we can't risk it running over time and having the mortgage rejected.
I've spoken to the developers today who've said "there's no way you can complete tomorrow the glass isn't in the terrace (it's a ground floor).
Spoke to the solicitors and he's had no information from their solicitors to say we can't complete. I've told him to go ahead and get completion tomorrow.
We've transferred the balance of our funds to the solicitor and he's requested the money from the Halifax for tomorrow.
The question (at long last!) - can we still legally complete if their solicitors have not been informed that completion HAS to be next Friday and no earlier?
If we do complete, can the developers refuse to give us the keys as they are not ready to pass it over?

I dont think you can complete if the seller isnt ready to complete. I was like a bull at a gate to complete, but there was no positive reason except sheer frustration.
Dont pressure them to cut corners though, I would say that. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Speak to The Halifax. They will probably extend offer. Don't rush into it. Make sure all building guarantees are in place, confirm with your solicitor all regulations passed, then move forward (1 or 2 weeks not gonna make any difference)
Lender will want to see all these details anyway. Check your solicitor....some good some bad

guess i'm just impatient to move after so long and the developers have stopped communicating. you can probably imagine the incredulity of them serving notice to complete and then not letting us know that it could only be on the day they say and no sooner. funny how the closer you get to completion the less people talk to each other.
all the building regs have been done and it's been signed off for occupancy. just a couple of minor snags inside which wouldn't prevent us moving in.
hey ho. such is buying and moving.Debt free (apart from mortgage)0 -
The other thing to note is that your buildings insurance wont be worth anything if theres no glass in the patio doors. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
