I am looking to replace my £400 laptop that I bought a year ago. Its getting too sluggish and annoying for me, so am going to sell it off to my brother for approx £300. I was wondering where is the best place to go and buy a laptop to replace it? Any recommendations? I would not be too dissatisfied if I were to get one refurbished (if it came with a good warranty) so where should I look for good shops for this? What is the best laptop for me? - I like to have a highly spec'd laptop, but at an affordable/good value for money.. I remember seeing an article from Martin Lewis on here before but have lost it, so am looking for you for help! Thanks everyone who helps here!!:money::money::money:

You could Look At these two websites.
    www.ebuyer.com
    www.dabs.com

What are you going to be using it for? how much money are you willing to spend (MAX) and what would you like the laptop to have / do

Thanks, il check them out when I wake up tomorrow :j. Well I wish to spend under £500, but would be flexibile by about £100. Well I do use my laptop ALOT, so would want really high spec's, like a fast processor (don't understand them at all!), about 2gb RAM, 200gb harddrive..etc:confused:

Just all round - mostly on the internet and just general use. I have used various programs to find viruses/spyware/malware etc etc, but its fine! I tjust think I bought it with too low specs.

Any laptop a year old should run fine for internet and 'general use'-these are the most undemanding uses possible. I suggest you ensure your sysstem is clean and maybe upgrade the RAM. Presumably you are running Vista Home edn, so you really need a minimum of 2GB RAM and preferably 3GB. A lot cheaper than a new laptop!
Also, if it's your internet connection that is running slow, buying a new laptop is not going to improve that one bit.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I completely agree with everything macman just said. What are the specs of the laptop you have now?
