My parents have a Samsung LE37S73BDX 37" HD Ready LCD TV which is 2 years old and out of warranty. During the past week or so the setting for the screen display changes each time the TV is switched off and on.
Their preferred setting is for widescreen, 16:9 format but when switching the TV off then on the setting reverts to Auto which means when they watch programs in older formats the screen reverts to cutting off the right and left side off the program. The TV has to be re-set to stretch the screen size so that it fills out the screen to 16:9 setting.
Is there a simple solution to this fault, I am wary about calling out an engineer as they could be charged all sorts of money. and they are pensioners.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Seems silly sending an engineer out for something like this, probably best just dealing with it and resetting it each time you put it on.
You could try putting it to factory defaults and turning off/on . Also see if there is a firmware update for the set.0 -
Thanks Camers.. I will have a go at returning the TV to factory default. My Dad is 87 so for him to reset the TV every day is a bit of a pain as he finds those things confusing.0
