Abbey zero rejection

Options
Hi

I applied for an Abbey zero card last week and called up today to find out how my application was going. They said that I haven't been accepted but haven't been rejected either. I have to write to the underwriters and say what I will use the card for and what kind of limit I need. I just want the card for spending in America this summer and then will ditch it until my next hol. Just wondered what to write in the letter to give me the best chance of being accepted? I've looked on this site but can't find any templates for this kind of letter. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks!

Don't know how often you holiday abroad but does this card still have the £10 per annum dormancy fee?

Evidence of your (positive) financial circumstances which would not be obtained from the credit search ie savings, investments, home owned outright, BTL property, house equity if property mortgaged, salaried employment position, household income, etc. Doesn't always work...I'm about 50/50 in overturning rejections.
  • Thanks for the quick reply. I've looked into the dormancy fee and I'll mainly just use it for a couple of weeks a year but I can always buy stuff throughout the year and set up a dd to pay it straight back so I'm fine there.

I have savings (only £6000 but this is set aside to pay off the other 2 cards I have for stoozing,) so will mention that, equity is very low as I only bought my house last year so maybe wont mention that! I'll put my salary in too. Anything else positive I should mention? What kind of limit do I ask for? £1000 will be enough, is that a reasonable amount to ask for? Or will asking for a lower amount increase my chances?

Another posted has advised they are 5/6 weeks behind.

I applied for the relaunched abbey zero card and have not heard anything.

You may have been referred to the underwriters or your application might not even have been looked at yet!
