Hi
my missis is going into hospital for about 5/6 days
shes still breastfeeding (6 month old girl)
been advised that baby can go in with her (they will give her own room)
but its not like being on maternity ward though (where babys are alarmed and doors locked etc)
i've read somewhere that you can get toddler alarms...so that if they move a few feet away from you an alarm sounds...does anyone know where i could get one?
thanks
my missis wont sleep otherwise

I have one which is made by Tomy & I bought it in Boots. Parent unit clips to parents belt or similar, baby unit pins to clothes. If baby is more than approx 4 meters from parent alarm sounds. Both units clip together & plug in to re-charge. I got it from boots on a half price offer, paid in the region of £8, full price £16 something & works very well on hubbys when they meander off in tescos! (baby is still to small to need it as not walking yet!)

EDIT : can't find it in Boots.com but I bought it in store, here is a link to show you what I am talking about but at an extortinate price! :

jeez thats expensive.......i'll do a search
thanks so much0 -
Just googled and come up with this scroll down to about the 3rd item.
Have no idea whether it's a good one or not, but it's certainly a better price.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
thanks mrsb
for that price i can certainly give it a go0 -
I know this isn't what you asked but i thought I would give you my experiences.
When my son was 4 months old, I was still breast feeding (had to stop after the op). I took him in with me from the friday til my op on the wednesday and it was really hard work. None of the staff could help me, I couldn't go to the loo without hassle. We were given our own room with a loo but it was still difficult. It was much easier int he 10 days post op without him.
When my daughter was 9 months old I had to go in for an op but I decided not to take her with me and it was so much easier, she still came in and I still fed her when i could.
I am hoping to have a baby where i don't have to have an op after one day!!
One word of warning, every time someone tries to give your wife drugs tell her to remind them all the time that she is breastfeeding. I had a nurse shove gel up my nose for mrsa, they tried to give me painkillers that weren't safe for breastfeeding. Even though it was on my notes they didn't think.
Good luck.0
