Hi
Can anybody help me please? I have an icon on my office bar at the top of my screen which I can click to get my address book up, but now it brings up an empty address book as if I have lost all my contacts.
Now I use Incredimail (I know, moan), I found it handy like that. I have used Incredimail for ages so it has nothing to do with that. I also keep a copy of Microsoft Outlook on my PC and Outlook Express as I find them handy to go into to resolve the odd problem such as this, but otherwise these programs are never used. I have found my contacts in Microsft Outlook in the address book although the address book comes up empty if I open Outlook Express, sorry if it is getting complicated or messy.
Anyway the way I see it, if I could export from Microft Outlook to a WAB file, then I could set it all up as before again, ie make the icon shortcut on my office bar point to the WAB file.
Any help appreciated, I have tried to do it and am pulling what little hair I have left, out.

Ok, I'm confused. But fwiw, have you simply tried restarting your computer, it maybe something as simple as the windows operating system not finding the file for whatever reason. If you give it a 2nd chance, it maybe more successful
Also, the windows address book is purely a .txt file with a .wab extention. If you search your system for ".wab" you shall likely find the file, then just Right Click on the file and drag it to your desktop, choose "Copy here.." * Be sure to NOT remove the file from its present location. Then Right Click the .wab file on your desktop, choose "rename" and change ".wab" to ".txt". Your contact details shall be a little messy and so you may need to re-organise them in your new address book or wherever you are going to store them. Be aware however, that as soon as you open another address book and click save on the newly inputed contact data, it shall likely store them exactly where your old .wab file was and so overwrite your old address book. So if given the option, save the new address book somewhere it won't conflict with the old one.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Cheers ABH, I appreciate the help. I have searched for a WAB file and found one but it brings up the empty address book I mentioned, and that is the only one that appears. The address book window looks identical to the one that opens in Microsoft Outlook but the difference is it is empty, so I don't know where Outlook is hiding it's list of contacts in my folders.
Any ideas
I have started the PC several times becuase this has been like this for a few days.0 -
Sounds like Outlook has stolen your contacts (I think this is the part where I'm supposed to sound slightly shocked lol). If your .wab was empty then it must be storing them somewhere else. I'd say best bet is to go in Outlook and have a good play around in Options until you find out where, or can find some way of exporting them out of Outlook to your preferred application. Outlook must an export function? :rolleyes:0
