in Credit cards
I've been with MBNA for years and always paid off my min payments. Last month I missed one by mistake, gave a cordial phone through to MBNA and was told all was ok just to pay with the next months amount, however within days I had a co., called Aegis on my back by text and phones. I repaid the missed payment and the remainder amount, some £80. Then I suddenly realised that MBNA has been lowering my credit limit from £5,500 in Jan to £3,700 to May statement. No wonder, I am having trouble with my payments, they are always going up! So I rang MBNA to find out what was going on: they refused to lower my interest, told me they are within their rights AND furthermore informed me that they are putting my interest rate UP to 23% unless I take a loan out to repay the total amount owed. Boiling with fury, I have done my research, found out the evil Bank of America is behind all this, and has been doing oodles of this in the US. My sources tell me that the Consumer Credit Act 2007 makes this kind of behaviour null and void, since I have been with MBNA since 1988 they can't pull this fast one on me. Further voices tell me I can take them to court for their latest efforts to get myself and other consumers out of the normal credit constraints so that they are no longer liable for our miserable repayments. Any advice for this predicament? Do I go to a credit enforcement firm and pull a fast one, so that they don't?

Never say never, but that is horrifically bad advice. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Ask MBNA for a true copy of your CCA and they may get stuck.
You could also try the more honest approach and complain. Most credit card companies back down as they don't want it going to the ombudsman.0 -

Unless your Credit card is a converted Alliance and Leicester card I find this statement very difficult to believe on the basis that MBNA only came to the UK in 1993.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
