M&S credit card transaction fees

in Credit cards
Recently I opened an online betting account; not very moneysaving I know, but I funded it with a mere £30 using a debit card. However I was asked to provide credit card details as part of the age verification process, the company stated that £2 would be charged to the card as a nominal amount to create the transaction, the £2 would be added to my betting account rather than refunded to the credit card.
I used my usual, and prefered credit card, M&S &more card, but when the statement arrived from them I discovered that I had been charged a £3 Gambling Transaction Fee. I have disputed this with M&S but they say that certain types of online transaction are treated as cash advances (even thought their T&C's make no mention about 'Gambling Transaction Fees'!).
I am interested to know if other credit cards also apply charges in this way or whther it is just one companies way of milking a bit '&more' from customers. I think it is is unreasonable that M&S should 'profit' from another companies (justifiable) security process, and makes me wonder what other types of transaction will be treated as a Gambling Transaction, Cash Advance or any other definition they choose to use!
Anyone had similar experiences?

Its in the terms and perfectly normal. Sounds man that the fee is more than the tester amount but its right, you pay a percentage as its like a cash withdrawl...... use debit cards for betting....

But the credit card was used only to verify my age....they would not accept a debit card for that because people under 18 can have a debit card!
As stated I used a debit card to fund the account!!0 -
Ask them to pay the charge then.
Do you normally clear your credit balance every month?
If not that could become a very expensive tester!0
