    Hi jdturk thanks for your reply. What I don't understand though is why would they bother making a law so impractical, I mean who is going to pay an electrician to diagnose an electrical item and then get them to write out a full report. How much would that cost? Only items above £2000 would be worth bothering about

    It doesn't have to be a report although, depending ont he circumstances, it may be appropriate.

    The burden of proof is, after 6 months, on the consumer to prove that the fault was inherent. Obviously the better the evidence, the more likely a Judge will find in favour.

    About £50+, all of which you should be able to get back should it go to court.

    If it goes to court yes but if the company simply replace/refund/repair there is no liability on them to pay the £50.
