I would be careful there because I canceled my PPI expecting my payments to drop the hundred quid a month it was costing me, but they only dropped by about 37 per month I was gutted....
You are correct, never cancel the PPI on a loan, you only cancel PPI on a credit card.
When you cancel PPI on a loan , as you found out, the loan does not get reset or the PPI taken off and the loan payment reduced by the PPI monthly amount, it only gets reset at the upheld stage.
