Canon Ixus camera Solution Disk

I have been researching for a new camera.
Decided on a Canon Ixus, but I need advice about the batteries.
My old camera took ordinary AA batteries. I gather the Canon takes a lithium battery, but I can't find much about them.
So do I need to get a battery charger as well? Spare battery? (One site I found offers a battery and charger with the camera as a package)
Any other advice welcome.

i have had 2 ixuses(?) over the last few years and they both came with battery and charger in the box with the camera.

Great Cam.......all new Ixuss come with charger and Batt, but its best to get a "Spare" batt.......cheap one off E-Bay are OK, as a Back up but not as good as the original

If the camera comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, then I would personally be happy. I have had loads of cameras over the years, and have used all kinds of batteries, but the best for duration and reliability have been the rechargeable lithium ion. In fact, I will not buy a camera that does not have these, both my current cameras have them, a canon dslr and an older kodak. When I bought a camera for my wife I used the same criteria, and we are both very happy with them. I have also bought spare batteries for all these cameras via ebay. They all came from japan, and are not originals, but are cheap and work just as well. Hope this helps, and hope you are very happy with your new camera.

I have an Ixus 60 and bought a spare battery from here http://www.watchbattery.co.uk/shop/Digital_Camera_Batteries.shtml#AtTheTop .It's been fine alternating between the supplied Canon battery.
Probably cheaper but I've always been a bit wary of eBay "copy" batteries.
Already mentioned, the camera should come with a separate charger in which the spare can be rejuvenated.

Camera arrived this morning.
Many thanks for telling me it should come with a charger (it does although not indicated in the order info)
Very glad I didn't go with the more expensive package offered just because it did mention the charger.

Enjoy, it's an excellent camera and produces superb results as you'll hopefully find out. Mine's the older 6 megapixel model but it's picture performance is mostly down to the quality Canon lens I suspect.
I've personally found it far superior to an unreliable equivalent Fuji which it replaced!

You did the right thing moving to lithion batteries.
They are much longer lasting than AA batteries generally and better for phones, and cameras.

In terms of buying a spare I would have a look on ebay. There are loads of Hong kong sellers doing them for a couple of quid (but £5 postage).

As said before these tend not to be as good as the originals but are decent back ups and cheap as chips.


Wouldnt buy originals as they are 6 or 7 times the price and in all honesty you will hardly use them.
