Well i have had a look and dont fancy it to be honest, will have to find somewhere to change for me just wondering on cost to be expected dont want to be ripped off0

Gtt someone coming out tomorrow, £65 inc vat to replace cable & cones both side , retention spring if needed and service the door, not a bad price as the parts will cost £20 if i bought myself and i dont know what im doing :rotfl:0

Once a year give the cables and spring a little brush with engine oil. Mine is still as good as new after 30 years.0

Sounds like a good price to me as well. I was quoted double that for a similar repair to a Cardale door last year. Parts were cheap so ended up doing it myself but it isn't for those of a nervous disposition. If the spring 'gets loose' while tensioning things will tend to fly about with great force and you have to hope that your protective clothing is up to the task!0

i agree entirely. easy enough job for a DIYer, (with the instructions), but you do need to take some care with the main spring
its very powerful, and if it flys off, you dont wanna be anywhere near it.
beside the problem of putting it all back together!Get some gorm.0
