I have been hit by a scam!!

Options
Hello people,

I need some help badly about an hour ago I have been hit by a scam I think, I went online to check my bank account and have seen £1000 made as a payment from my transactions. Two days ago I received an invoice for a laptop at my address in London however it stated that it had been delivered to another address. I didnt think anything of it and thought that there had been a mix up. Now I find £1000.00 taken from my account!!!

Can anyone tell me what I should do.....should I phone the police or the bank??

I need your replies asap, many thanks.

Both, this is a bad thing to happen, I'm sorry I can't help.
They will track them down I'm sure.

Does the invoice say the payment type/details and do you recognise the delivery address?

Has the payment been taken by debit card?

Your first point of call is the bank so that in the event of any fraudulent transactions your card can be stopped.

Personally I'd phone the bank just now if you have telephone banking and then decide what to do once you have spoken to them. Hope you get it sorted.

It sounds like somebody got your details and used them to order the goods. I wouldnt be surprised if the property is unused and somebody knew this and was hanging about waiting for the courier. Is the address near to you and can you go there and see if there is anyone living there? I am not sure what you can do about this but i'm sure some other MSEers will know......
