Like ppl have recommended, you'd be best to get onto a comparison website and then speak to an advisor (one that won't charge you a fee) who'll be able to point you in the direction of a company who are sympathetic to your pregnancy weight gain.

I can recommend top quote uk for their free, independent advice and quotes.

i tried them but the prices came back quite high, i used http://www.ymoney.info comparison and ended up as axa being the best quote at just over £7 a month

@ somewhatnew - no my concern at the moment is saving as much money out of our outgoings as possible. I am concerned that we are no longer on a fixed mortgage and we are unable to re-mortgage due to negative equity. I feel £44 is too much for life cover. I thought we were tied to it when we took the mortgage out. The only reason we went the original life cover was that the (estate agent) mortgage advisor sold it us and yes we were a bit green and niave back then!!

I didn't realise there were life insurance comparison sites too. will have a look later.

I have spoke with both l&g who have re-ferred back to underwriters and also friend provident who now say I am borderline acceptable but with a 300% upscaling.

Seeing as I am on a weight loss plan I might wait 3 months and then try again. Spoke with estate agents about the existing plan yeterday and they have done all the paperwork with regards to sacrificing their commission. Monthly premium should come down from £44 to around £30ish, so might stick with this for the time being.

    Hi Joisey,

Sorry to hear you've been having trouble sorting your life assurance out.

To be honest, if you've only spoken to Legal and General and Friends Provident, you aren't getting a good range of views on weight.

There are a lot of companies who will be willing to offer you cover with a rating depending on your height and weight.

    Hope that helps!

    Joisey,

It looks like you have taken the bull by the horns with your decision to follow the weight loss program - and if you can follow it through you should see a lot more benefits than just cheaper insurance!

I feel that I should point out though, that comments like the above suggesting you go to a comparison site are not a good way to go.

Although it mentions advice, the site allows you to get an instant quote and then encourages you to proceed with an application WITHOUT any advice....

If you are not absolutely 100% sure of exactly what you need, then why run the risk of buying a policy that does not fit your requirements.

For peace of mind, and the security of having appropriate cover, it would be best to speak to an Independent Financial Adviser, not to find a policy on a comparison site.

Some of the comparison sites sell your details to lead banks which are then purchased by firms.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
  • The site I recommended offers free advice as well as instant quotes....not all comparison sites are the same stephenni1971.

You have recommended the site in several of your posts.

I went to it,ran a quote and was instantly asked to apply online.

Although there was an option to click and speak to an adviser, it was nowhere near as prominent as the APPLY NOW option.

As an IFA,before I get anywhere near a quote I do a full fact find, and even then the initial quote is based on my recommendation.

I'm just curious at how you promote them so much, even now in your signature...
