Help with claiming JSA after being made Redundant

Hi
I'm hoping someone can steer us (my dad in the right direction),
my dad was made redundant in april 09, his official date of unemployment was 14.04, after lots of backward and forwarding he still has not received JSA and due to this His payment protection insurance for his mortgage is not paying out.(it starts after 30days of unemployment). The payment protection insurance company stated that he could claim from 17.06.09 - apparently JSA is paid 30days in arrears hence pp for mortgage not starting yet - they also need to know how much JSA he will be receiving but dwp can't tell him that yet as his claim has not been processed, he has been offered a crisis loan - which I said he should have taken as this might hurry them with his claim if he owed money, things are getting desperate for him now and he doesn't know which way to turn - my mum works part time but she doesn't earn enough to cover the mortgage and the bills, I did suggest he speak to CAB but he's not convinced they will be able to advise him - he doesn't want to go into arrears and miss mortgage payments. why does it take so long to sort out?
thanks in advance for any advice

Is there a specific reason why his claim has not yet been processed, or is just due to a backlog of claims?Gone ... or have I?0

Unfortunately many CAB's are so swamped at the moment it may take several weeks to get an appt. No harm in ringing and asking though.Gone ... or have I?0 -
thanks for all your replies - no reason has been given for the claim not being processed, last week a form was sent back stating he needed to fill part b in and retain part a, only problem was part b was printed on the back of part a!, I will try and push him to speak with CAB, he was in a bad state of mind today after letter from insurance co for pp on mortgage.
