Lost receipt

Hi All!
New to the forum so i'm not sure if posting correctly but hope you can help!
I purchased a ipod dock alarm clock in Feb for about £60. It has become faulty, keeps turning itself on during the night! I rang Currys but they advised without a receipt or proof of purchase (i paid cash), they cannot help me!
Is this correct? Surely there's something I can do?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Tina

Yes, it is correct.
Do you still have the packaging? If so, is there anything on it that identifies it as purchased from Currys?
Have you contacted the manufacturer?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Do you know the exact date and approx. time as their system will show if they sold one that day.
In law you don't need a receipt as the shop is not required to give you one. However you do need to have some proof it came from the store you are claiming against. If the item is unique to Curry's then of course your problem is solved.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Hi dmg24 - thanks for the quick response!
Have all of the original packaging but nothing on there states it was purchased at Currys unfortunately.
The manufacturer is 'Gear4', its a blackbox 24/7 (definately wakes me up 24/7!!!)
Should I write to them?
Thanks again

Thanks Poppy - unfortunately I cant remember what date it was purchased! So annoying because I always keep my receipts!! :-(
How will I find out if it's exclusive to Currys? :-)0 -
It's not exclusive to Curry's, you can get them from quite a few websites...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Sorry mwilletts - that was a really silly question in hindsight! Have fired off an email to Gear4!
Thanks for your help :-)0 -
Do you have a credit card or bank statement that shows the purchase? This helps you prove you bought something from Currys on that date at a specific price.0

Thanks BruceyBonus - unfortunately I paid cash!
Typical - I always use a debit card and I always keep the receipt!! Now I remember why! :-(0
