Halifax bank accounts

Hi,

Due to some adverse credit history My OH opened a halifax easy cash account 2 years ago to have his benefit paid into. For the last year he has been back in work bringing home between 2000 and 4000 pounds per month.

He went into our local branch last weekend to try and upgrade his account to a "normal" current account, they told him they would let him know their decision on monday. So far we have heard nothing so are assuming he has been refused, why???

He has just taken out a mortgage but has settled car finance that should have run for 4 years and we settled in 4 months.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated, its a real pain having to wait 2 weeks for cheques to clear!!

The halifax only upgrade on how the account is being run ie the amount of money going into it such as regular money and if you have any charges on the account they will not upgrade, we have tried this and have been told we must have no charges within a 6 month period ie direct debits not coming off.

Thanks for that, he has had one charge for an unpaid DD about 4 months ago and that was due to his boss paying his wage a day late!

Oh well I wonder if it is worth him trying somewhere else
