freeholder demanding change of property manager

I was wondering if someone might help me with some advice regarding an issue with my freeholder of the block of flats I live in.

I recently received a letter from the freeholder stating that the property managers has not paid an insurance bill for our block and we were in breach of the lease. Further to this the freeholder has demanded that we give notice to the property manager within 10 days. The property managers we've been using have generally been pretty good and, although I'm miffed at the unpaid bill (which has now been sorted), I don't really want to replace them. What I'd like to know is do the freeholders have the legal right to force us to change the property manager?

Any advice much appreciated.

I suspect there is a simple answer to this but it could depend on your lease wording.

I take it you as leaseholders invoked a right to manage given you have the power to hire/fire the managing agent?

The simple answer probably goes along the lines of 'freeholder, take a running jump' but I'm not personally sure.
