                    Hey Guys,
I was browsing some debt advise websites the other day and popped some details into a search feature.
After a few minutes, I received a phone call from 'Baines and Ernst' where a very helpful and polite lady went through my current circumstances and advised that they offer a payment plan which would cut my current outgoings in half if I have their company manage my finances.
According to her, their company can liaise with my creditors and create a payment scheme at a much smaller monthly charge than what im incurring at the moment.
How does this work ? Does anybody know if these guys can really help, or is it a trap to pay for services which are going to be unhelpful towards myself.
Would appreciate some assistance

            Hello
Do not use a fee charging DMP company. You can get the same service managed much better by one of the recommended charity organisations.
You may not need a DMP (it does affect your credit rating).
If you do need one use CCCS, Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), Payplan, Nationaldebtline or Christians Against Poverty (CAP).
If you want more people's opinions see this thread (not the OP question but more the majority of replies)

            Hi there
Personally I would go to a free organisation as they can do the same for you obviously free of charge, so be careful there.;)
You have many choices - here:
CCCS
http://www.cccs.co.uk/
National debtline
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/
Payplan
I'm having trouble opening their link right now, but google this in, and of course your local CAB, and may if you've a trade union.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

i used this company years ago - my interest went up on debts - was not frozen as promised and ended up in a bigger mess than started off - went to cccs who were great and finally got debts sorted.0

Baines and Ernst are just there to make money out of your misfortune...........dont give them the opportunity to do so.
There is NOTHING they can do that a NON-FEE Debt management organisation ( CCCS, Payplan, etc ) cant.
:D stay wonky
:D

Blimey that is a rip off.......
I would have complained about them, if they said or if this was written in black and white they were going to freeze and they went back on their word, I would take this further, this just isn't on.The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks a million guys. Thought id give you all an update after reading your opinions. They rang me last night to ensure I had received the forms, where I advised that i'd like to decline the service.
They dont like losing do they!!!, this guy tried every retention tool in the book, but couldnt justify the £583 charge to get the plan setup.
After speaking with them, I spoke to CCCS where an appointment has been made on 03/07/2009... so im happy
CCCS have told me to make token payments to my creditors until im advised further... thing is though, when trying to advise my loan company of this, they declined and advised my account would reach collections as im not paying the contracted amount required. Can they do this ?
How do token contributions work?Loan: £2500
