I started at 12 weeks.Think it was all the excitement and being fortunate enough not to have been through a loss.
I am 24 weeks next Tuesday so will be breathing a bit easier after this - don't know what I would have done (or still do!) if I'd lost this one and had all the stuff around the house.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Thanks again for all the replies, I appreciate. We are far of from babies at the moment but I want to be as prepared as possible - I really have no idea do I!!
I think that I will be taking the advise offered:
- Work out what I'll get from work (&/or Government) & work out what I need to top it up to my normal wage. Although this will have to be quite a guesstimate as it is quite far in the future & anything could happen!
- Make a list of everything I think I will need & calculate a figure
- The figures from point 1 & 2 will be my aim to save
- When the time comes offer the wish list to all who ask so I don't get 30 million baby grows!

Register with and use Freecycle......... have received and re-Freecycled fabulous baby clothes.
Other things received - blankets, muslins, toys, books, backback carrier thingy (for hiking), jumperoo............ and loads more. Nothing was manky, most were nearly new.
As soon as it has been outgrown, it will all go back on Freecycle for someone else to use.

I understand the whole planning and saving and being organised thing, but like a couple of people have said or inferred, there's no "set amount". There's certainly no harm in being sensible, but then a lot of people probably wouldn't have babies if everyone was sensible.0

I think the other thing to remember is that you might have problems conceiving. The longer you leave it (and the older you get) the more likely it is problems could occur. I have had 4 miscarriages and 3 children. With all of the miscarriages and 2 of the children I fell pregnant the first month of trying. With my last child we tried for 20 months before I became pregnant. Although I asked the doctor if we could have investigations done she refused and basically said it was my age.
Having some money to fall back on can be sensible - but don't wait too long.
