I could use a cross-cut shredder, to get rid of some old paperwork. Saw this - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6703002/Trail/searchtext%3ESHREDDER.htm Or is there something else I should look at? Want something reliable-ish, cheap-ish, and that won't be too much of a pain to use...

I reckon almost all of the cheap no-name ones will have been made to low quality standards in China, so reliability will be an unknown quantity.
If you're shredding any quantity of paper at a time, the thing that will annoy you the most is the puny 4 litre capacity. Emptying is usually dusty/messy, so you don't want to have to do it too often. You also need one with a deep waste container, because if the strips back up onto the head they can get dragged the wrong way into the shredding head and that will usually stall it.0 -

Personally I'd get any shredder...
But make sure there's some cheap washing-up liquid and some water in the base (Not while plugged in of course!!)
Makes nice paper mache bricks for the kids to play with!! lol! or to stick in the recycling bins!Laters
