I'm looking to get one for home diy and wonder if any anyone here have any experience with these heat guns and whether they are good products.
I'm looking to get one from bargain crazy, shamed they dont have any current discount codes.

I have got one of these for stripping the paint of the woodwork. Great for that just dont hold the gun for too long in the same place or it can set fire to the wood!!0

Also, be careful near to glass panes as the heat can crack the glass.
One other (very obvious) point... don't let the business end touch anything as it will be burnt ( I still have a cartwheel shaped scar on my forearm from 5 years ago!)Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -
Got my heat gun from B&Q - think it was 12.99 - its very good.
Does say in the instructions tho - Warning! Not to be used for drying hair or pets!!!!! ;DTotal for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -
My heat gun is a Black and Decker and the last time I used it was well over 20 years ago. Save your money is my advice.0

I know everything you need to know about heat guns but I’m not giving you any advice or help.

i have one of these and use it all the time when decorating. It is very simple to use as you hold the gun over the paint until it blisters and then lift it off with a scraper. I recently moved into a house where all the previous owner had done was to lightly sand the woodwork and repaint it ending up with many coats of paint and a pretty crappy finish. You can strip back an average sized window sill in a few minutes.
Word of warning though - be very careful if you have UPVC windows as any plastic arcitrave will melt very quickly. Just place the heat near it and keep using the scraper moving the gun nearer a little bit at a time.0 -
and ventilate the room as much as possible coz it does get quite smoky after a while.I'm not a "SINGLE" mum, I'm a "DOUBLE" mum!:D0

and don't be surprised if it sets your smoke alarm off too. Nearly jumped out my skin when it happened to me.0
