My vouchers have just arrived, and I have ordered a bike for my son.

OP, did it definitely say you could pay with the double points coupon on the product page?

I'd be surprised if that happened. I would expect they're sitting there in the OP's account, and would come off if she ordered toys. Like when you bank codes? But that's no good to the OP, if she's not going to order any toys.

Well, someone else went to the shop with £5 and £4.50 to double up and they took the £4.50, said that only £5 can be exchanged and that the £4.50 was added back to her points balance... Instead of giving her back the voucher!

That's different. The OP had already exchanged her CC vouchers for double-up vouchers.

I can confirm that they DO just sit in your account like extra points codes would do. I put one in and it couldn't be accepted because my item was a penny too cheap. So the £10 voucher just went into my account and was shown with other codes I had in there.

As for the woman who handed over a £4.50 one - why did she do that? If she didn't want it adding back to her CC account, she could have put it back in her purse.

just read this thread today, I can see why you are annoyed with Tesco.
However, quite a few years ago, when a very large Tesco was built near to me, I went in on the opening day, which also happened to be my youngest daughters birthday.
I chose a bike that was on display, and asked for one to put in my trolley. I was told that they were for display only as they didn't have any in stock yet.
I asked if I could have the one on display then, But no, they couldn't do that.
I toddled off to customer services, who called the Manager. I explained it was my daughters Birthday and I wanted to buy the bike, I had my child benefit book in my bag (which showed the dates of birth of all my kids), and showed him it to prove I was not making it up.
He didn't even want to look at it. He took me to the shelf where the bike was, wheeled it to the till, and asked me if I would be happy to pay £1.00 for it.
Then told me that he hoped my daughter had a very happy birthday.
I have been a regular customer ever since.

IMO - Tesco are hopeless at customer service, head office does not help the customer with problem with stores. I have been harassed and bullied in my local Tesco, this happens after i care to question anything. I would have Asda CS any day, they are approachable and friendly - Tesco Got Too Big For Its Boots

Just FYI, the site stated in an earlier post about the age for a 'toy' is an American site. For European concerns, the Toy Safety Directive classes a toy as for under 14 years of age, not 12 (same info really but just an older age IYSWIM). Hope you got a reply by now?
