I too am having the same problem as joemardo1. I have been with the post office broadband extra for over 6 months now and initially i was getting a 2mb download speed, but after a while it suddenly dropped to 128 kpbs.
Having spoken to the the post office about this problem, they have sent out an engineer, who says there is no fault with a line. All he could recommend was replacing the wireless router, as it might be faulty.
Then 2 days after the engineer left, my download speed jumped back up to about 1.8 mb. Even when i was sent a new router, my speed stayed around the 2mb bracket, until 2 weeks ago, where it has dropped to a snail's pace again.
What i find strange though, for the last 2 weeks, no matter how many times i have run a speed test at broadbandspeedchecker, it always comes back with the same download result of 128 kpbs.
I have contacted my wonderful isp  again about this problem and they told me to connect the router wire in the test socket for 3 days and they will get back to me with the results, but im still waiting to hear from them. This was over 10 days ago and im beginning to think they must be suffering from amnesia or something.
As my download speed is always 128 kpbs, does anyone think im being capped by the post office. I have run countless anti virus/spyware/malware scans and im at a loss what else could be causing the problem.

your line stats indicate there is a problem... upstream attenuation is normally about half the downstream....so either one or the other is wrong, and I suspect the downstream. Interestingly, the SNRs are in the right proportion, giving even bigger indication of a fault.
Also, make sure you don't switch your router off, it needs to be connected constantly for the DSLAM to train your connection...........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Hi Gunjack
Thanks for reading and responding to my problem.
Having looked up what DSLAM meant, , do you mean i should ask my isp to run a DLSAM on my line and this should correct my problem?0 -

the DSLAM is the box of tricks in the exchange that sends you the bb signal. They auto-adjust if you're on IPStream bb delivery (which you will be if BT or not on LLU service) to give you the best speed/reliable connection combo, but they need to "train" your profile/line which takes days to do, and you MUST leave your router switched on constantly for it to do this. Occasionally your profile may get stuck, which needs your ISP to reset it. By the look of it, you're on a 2Meg profile...ask them to put it up to 8 Meg profile (esp if you're paying for up to 8Meg). The actual speeds you wil get will depend on many factors, but I suspect your downstream attenuation should be 30-ish dB, which should mean you should sync at almost the full 8 Meg, and get probably 5-6 Meg actual speed.
As to your ISP, I think you may need them to get BT Openreach to find the problem on your line...it looks pretty clear you have one. Can you plug the router into your test socket (found behind the faceplate on your Master phone socket and see what your line stats look like then ?? It will give a better indication if the fault is in the BT line or within your house's internal wiring (duff boxes, wiring, extensions, etc.)
Also, check out these two sites for loads of excellent bb techie info, and the peeps on the forums are bb specialists:-

Many ISP's employ traffic shaping to reduce bandwidth at peak times, most deny they do this, but ive collected bandwidth graphs over several days showing that my ISP cuts my bandwidth at 1pm by almost 90%, then increases slightly at 11pm and fully opens again at midnight. As I don't over use my bandwidth (fair usage policy), if it carries on i'll moving ISP's.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
