Paying off a credit card while abroad

Options
I am looking into the Nationwide Classic Credit Card because of the good international rates, but as I will be abroad for around 4 months, how can I pay it off without building up interest?

Do they have a system where I can automatically pay off the debt on the card just before the interest free periods end?

It's just occurred to me I could do it online/by phone, but my access to it will be severely restricted while there, so I'd prefer an automated system if possible.

Thanks.

The other option that would work is to set up a direct debit before you go for the minimum payment, and if you can get online a few weeks before you are due to make your full payment, change the direct debit to full.

Personally, I would just ignore the interest free period and set the direct debit up as full before you go to avoid any issues. I know you lose the interest free period, but in the long run, if you can't be sure to get online and make an online payment or change direct debit, it is not worth it.

Thanks - so just set up a direct debit that will pay it off in full each month. That would still give me up to a months interest free period wouldn't it?

I can't remember exactly for nationwide, but around 56 days interest free as there is a delay between the statement date and the payment date. So if you bought something on day 1, your statement is 30ish days after that, and then you have to pay say 20+ days after that.

    Cheers, Des.
