  • I was terrified, but determined when I first went, I asked for the little anaesthetic and felt absolutely nothing at all, I managed 10 donations, before my veins went underground, now they won't attempt it anymore because my veins can never be found in either arm, and they asked me not to come back again. God knows what would happen in the event of them needing to find one in an emergency, The nurse always has to take samples from my hand, but they won't do that for donations, as I understand that the veins can easily collapse there.

To anyone considering donating blood, DO IT, ask for the little anaesthetic, HONESTLY it doesn't hurt, and you feel so good about yourself afterwards, more importantly you may be helping to save someones life. xxxx

If you click on current stocks, you'll see that the days stock bar charts are very different from the stock levels.
It depends a lot on ethnicity. I said mine was quite rare when I went to give in Japan, only to find its quite common there!

Thanks for that. Well, it seems my blood group has the least days stock and is the second lowest stock level. Even more reason for me to get donating.

Thanks smartiepants, I will ask for that.
