BT - Be aware - watch your phone bill if you change call plan.

Just a quick note to say keep an eye on your first phone bill if you change your call plan with BT.
We changed from the plan with free evening and weekend calls to the anytime plan. It was no problem to change, but when we got our first bill after the change (about a month later), we were puzzled why it was so high and the monthly direct debit doubled. When we examined it properly, we had been charged almost £70 for switching whilst we were still in contract with old plan. We had been out of contract for a long time and phoned BT.
Bt said that because we had changed call plan, the system was set to make the charge by default but he would cancel the charge, reinstate the original direct debit amount and re-bill us. It has worked out fine for us and they admitted that it was their mistake without argument but I just wanted to pass on the situation so that others are aware.
