An article in today's Metro saying that the Court of Appeal has ruled that under s75 of the Consumer Credit Act CC companies are jointly liable with retailers for purchases made abroad of £100 to £30000.

Yeah - this is good news and overrules the high court.
It means that you get the same protection purchasing stuff overseas or via the internet as you do buying stuff from UK retailers.
Remember kids - this only works with CREDIT cards though and you are not protected in the same way when you use a visa debit or maestro/switch card.

Sorry for being a bit pedantic, but shouldn't it be s.75 of the CCA? Also did the Metro give the name of the ruling?"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Times have also reported on this now:

One interesting fact in the footnote (which is slightly unrelated to the s.75 stuff, but very related to MSE) is that Britains waste c.£344million on extra charges when using debit and credit cards abroad, mainly in the form of fees."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0
