PAYPAL and IKEA (2 separate problems to watch out for)

PAYPAL
I sold a good pair of D&G boots to a Polish bidder with zero feedback and poor contact with me. I went ahead with the sale as I figured that we all have to start somewhere on E-bay. Anyway, I sent the boots to Poland on May 18th and on Friday 22nd I logged in to check my mail before bed and the Polish buyer had raised a DISPUTE with me! When I eventually "found" the "Resolution Centre" she simply stated that the boots had not arrived. Now E-bay etiquette dictates that when you don't receive something, you message the seller first.....not this one....straight to dispute AND she de-registers with E-bay. I logged in to Paypal (as they had taken her payment to me back) and I sent scanned images as proof of postage. They settled in her favour today! Bear in mind that post from UK to Warsaw will probably take a little more than 4 days, they didn't even wait they settled and I am ABSOLUTELY MAD AS H$LL.
IKEA
I bought Ektorp sofa and two chairs Christmas 2004. I washed the loose covers for the first time last week. After skinning my fingers trying to get them on, they both tore in the exact same place, right up the arm. I wrote to IKEA with photos of the damage......yeah, you guessed....the "10 year guarantee" that comes with these now was not in place in 2004 and I have no way of proving them otherwise. Another annoying thing was I told them I washed them at 30o (label states 60o) but I thought 30 would be kinder to them. The girl who answered my mail said that they wouldnt be covered under the guarantee anyway as I had washed them at the wrong temperature!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For God's sake, had I washed them at 60o when they stated 30o I could understand but not the other way on.
Sorry for the ramble but I am incandescent with rage tonight........

Your Paypal problem is indicative of why so many people have stopped selling on ebay/ using Paypal. Practically everything is biased towards the buyer, even when they are in the wrong.
Although much less serious than your problem, I have a gripe on their new ratings system (where a buyer rates the seller up to five stars on several different factors). I pride myself on being completely honest in my descriptions, super fast delivery and I only charge the cost of posting. For some reason one buyer has only given me 4/5 on each factor, yet no one has come back to me with any complaints! ebay will not tell me who this person is, so my rating has been lowered, and I cannot sort out the problem (if there is one)!
I was going to suggest trying ebay to get new covers ... I'm sure you'll be treated much better as a buyer!Gone ... or have I?0 -
Paypal - you need to give them online proof of delivery rather than proof of postage.
But assuming the goods were less than £39 in value, and you have a proof of postage you can claim the money back from Royal Mail.0 -
Just like JCS1 states paypal do not want proof of pstage but proof of delivery. My only question would be the time frame here, how long after buyer opened the chargeback did paypal refund her, it should have been a minimum of 7 days.
That would mean 7 days to open a chargeback (again the minimum time before a chargeback can be opened) plus 10 days to decide outcome .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
