in Techie Stuff
I bought a Sony Handycam today and the nice man in Currys assured me it would eb a doddle to upload to PC.
I apologise now to those amongst you who know what you are talking about. Sadly I am totally confused. I have read some of the posts on her and know that you techies get a bit naffed off with those of us who are struggling. For this reason I was reluctant to post and possibly suffer the wrath.
I am desperate so will try anyway. I did manage to upload a few clips into their PMB but it seems nothing more than a way of sticking seperate clips onto a DVD.
I tried to import into Windows Movie Maker and the clips did go in as MPEGs but I could do little with them. WMM froze every time i tried to do anything. I have loked at various sites and it looks as though WMM is actually geared to use with the MiniDV format of camcorder and not HDD.
Could anyone kindly confirm that so that I know I am wasting my time in persevering. At stage where brick is going through screen anytime!
Any help would be much aprreciated.

I know some know-alls are too superior for their own good, but always go on the premise that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
Are you saying your camcord videos in HD? I gave up on mine because it's a hard format to work on editing properly. If it is HD then try physically changing the extension to mpeg instead of .VOB. This works sometimes. You may have to use a file converter like Super (can't give link due to this anal site).0 -
Hi and thanks very much for your reply.
I have posted again this morning, not specifically for advice but in response to another persons query as to a good camcorder to buy. This gives you all the problems i have been having if you would be kind enough to have a quick look at this post.
Title - Best Camcorder on the Market
Sorry but I don't know how to post a link to it.
The clips I imported to Windows Movie Maker were definitely Mpeg. As in the other post, i think the problem is some setting on my PC but if Comets helpline and the Sony experts can't help I stand no chance.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0
