Thinking of buying a new Renault Clio - hopefully through dealdriver having looked on here for best prices. Did some research using the official renault site and saw their protection Ixtar 3G.
Is it worth getting - I am likely to have this car for at least 10 years - anyone know how much they charge for a Clio (site just gives a costs from price ) ?
Thank you

What is it? Can't find any info on google. I presume it's for the glass? Is it like rainx or a security film? If it's like a rainx type thing to make rain bead and go up the screen don't spend any more than £10 as lidl sell a kit for about £6 that does the same thing. If it's security film it does make life more difficult for emergency services in the event of an accident, and does slow down car criminals but doesn't stop them. Personal preference but I wouldn't.

Or if it's one of these amazing paint protection systems they're just a serious rip off all of them. If you care about the paint on your car you'll be happy getting the cloth out and applying sealant to your car yourself rather than paying someone a couple hundred quid to do it.

Overall, whatever it is, the answer is probably no as they're just trying to make money out of you.

It's supposed to protect the paintwork as well as the glass- says you will never need to wax (5 years)and that residue weill just wipe off -from sap, birds etc. Also protects interior
  • It's just another name for the wonderful non protectors that most dealers try to get money from you for.

I suppose it's somthing along the lines of £250+ for the package.
I was given a pack of similar (another one with the smiling picture of second rate presenter's on the advertising) and applied it meself, it lasted about 3 months.

Leave it, buy some good quality polish and wax with the money from the likes of Meguires and keep your car good for years, you'll be able to buy enough to last a lifetime.

Have you ever noticed that the best kept/condition cars are usually being driven by older folk who keep them clean and regularly waxed....and most importantly wash road salt (and from underneath) and bird muck off sharpish.

Are there any paint protectors that are actually worth getting? I was looking at 3M Scotchguard which is basically a clear clear film that you'd put over the front of the car to protect from stonechips and the like.

I've got a 16yr old rare import with imacculate paintwork, but it's already picked up one stonechip, and also my neighbour has put up a bird feeder in his garden so now my cars are constantly covered in bird poo, so some kind of wax is probably needed too, unfortunatley I don't have the skill or the time to do anything like that.
