Rent a room scheme vs declaring rental income

As you posted on a public forum in a manner that IMO intended to deceive, you may want to reconsider before calling others to book on the grounds of what may or may not be decent. My comments were clearly addressed to the other thread readers, who may not have been aware that you were directing them to websites/companies in which you may have a financial interest. The background from the link was relevant to that, refers to your business life, rather than your personal life, & highlights information that you willingly put out via other articles.tbs624 - so instead of posting links to things about my PAST personal life - why did you not be decent and contact me direct and say what you have just said there?
..although you clearly felt that it was okay for you to do so, not only in the thread but also via an irate PM. You have a sig which states your name, and that you see yourself as a “property mentor & entrepreneur”: the contents of the link will be familiar to other regular posters on here, who also read/contribute to forums at HPC and at SingingPig, and is, in any event, easily accessible by anyone putting your name into a search engine. If you seek to self promote/line your pockets via forums that are intended to offer genuine help to people then you do leave yourself open to others comments. Please can I ask you to edit your post and remove the link. I have taken on board your comment. You do not need to get personal.
However, shall we move on now? If you’d prefer to keep it going then do feel free to send another PM, rather than the matter boring the rest of the Board

So, if im reading this right, if i rented a room out and generate more than the rent a room freshhold, i could declare it as rental income and claim expenses that i am unable to on the rent a room scheme?
Any advice would be appreciated.0 -
