Cheap ISP - Cable

Hi:

I'm on NTL for my phone is it possible to get a different ISP as lots I've looked at say that I must have a BT line. As my line rental is free with my TV package I'm loathed to pay BT just to access a different ISP.

If I can access a different ISP any recommendations - at minimum I'd like 1Mb unlimited access.

why not get NTL broadband, it does noy use your phone line all conections will be made through your set top

That's what I have now but it doesn't seem competitively priced.

Currently, there are no alternatives. Ofcom may eventually force ntl to open up its cabling to other operators, as has happened to US cable companies. But, that’s probably a very long way off.

What you can do now is to try to get ntl to reduce their price to you. See the NTL at it again! thread. You say that you don’t have a BT line, but ntl aren’t to know this. And, they’re more than well aware that you could just dump the lot, and go with a BT line, ADSL provider and Sky or plain Freeview.
