Hi, Im new to this!! but i desperately need help.
Last monday I had a sofa delivered from DFS, however within 3 days it had sunk, and looked 6 months old, cushions were flattening and back cushions were sunk in too.
I wouldnt expect it to look like this. after 3 days, i called them and they said someone will come out next week and plump up the cushions, but i told them i dont want it, each seat feels differently to the next and is extremely uncomfortable.
They said I cant have a refund and the 7 day cooling off period is only for the internet, apparently i dont have any rights apart from my guarantee which they havent supplied me with!!!
Can anyone help me please i dont know what to do and now have a very uncomfortable worn looking sofa!!!
thanks for any help!

2 years ago we bought a DFS sofa and chairs. We noticed a problem with the geometry of the arms on the sofa and chairs (not square). Made a complaint in writing and via the phone to the store we purchased from demanding an inspection from the store manager. 2 weeks later the inspection took place and and their first offer was a full refund - needless to say we accepted.
About a week later the design was removed from their collection.0 -
Give Consumer Direct a ring and they will explain exactly what your rights are. In particular, the goods must be of reasonable quality and if they are not then you may reject the goods within a reasonable time. What counts as reasonable quality varies from case to case, and there are numerous tests, but I'm going to stick my neck out and say that sofas should not be uncomfortable or require a professional to call and plump the cushions after three days. Don't be sidetracked by the 7 day cooling off - this is a different reg which applies to distance selling.
Take some photos, and double check with someone brutally honest (we all know someone who can't help but be brutally honest) that it really is a substandard sofa.
Finally, if delivery was part of the same contract as the sale of the sofe (i.e. you bought the delivery from DFS at the same time as the sofa or it was included in the price of the sofa) then collecting the sofa if you reject it is their problem and should be at their expense.0 -
If the technician comes out and advises there is a manufacturing fault then you have every right to reject the goods & ask for a refund / re-selection.
Are the seats foam / fibre?
Your problems will start if they come back with no fault - i.e. its natural settlement / loss of resillience.
Let us know how you get on.
Whatever is wrong with it you will have to allow them to carry out an inspection.£80 in boots vouchers from pigsback.com - Balance: 820pp£15 in paypal from Lightspeed + £30 Halfords Vouchers£36.20 earned from onepoll so far£40 Tesco Vouchers - Valued Opinions:beer:0 -

Hi Liz,
I am having the same problem with my furniture what i had delivered last friday, i am waiting for the store manager to come out on Monday.
But get back in touch with them and tell them you will take them to the small claims court and they will soon change their mind, You might have to go ahead with the claim but it will only cost you about £50.00 and you will get whatever you ask for.
Good Luck shelly45730 -
Im still amazed anyone with internet access buys sofas from DFS.
The web is littered with similar tales.0 -
