Adding more...what if we went and eloped right now? Not planned, but I'd want to apply for a Green Card if we got married. Could I still be done for violating terms of visa waiver?

ETA: More! It seems that I either have to be a Tourist and prove it...or we have to get married ASAP for me to be here! Is there no inbetween??

i think the rules of the Fiance visa, are that you have to be married within 3 months of issue.

Also, while the process of getting this visa is going ahead, if

    a) you're in the USA, you cannot work
    b) you're not in the USA, you cannot enter the USA even to visit your fiance

    strict rules really..

Yeah, within 90 days. So if I apply for it while I'm in the US it's better? I don't intend to work. I'm making clay figurines as a hobby which I'm considering selling once I'm allowed!!!!!

What if we get married within the 90 days and I'm waiting for the Green Card? Do I still have to leave once the 90 days is up....or can I hang around in the US while it's being processed?

And again with hurrying the marriage forward! I want to spend a while with my guy before we're pushed into getting married just so I can stay here!!!

there will be plenty of meetings, and you'll probably get an extension, especially if you're married, your fiance visa doesn't apply, blah blah.... it's all very complex, and the nip to canada trick won't work

Yeah, it's all very complex, that's why I'm asking for someone to clarify. 'Blah blah" doesn't really help me all that much.

Apparently I'm trying to break the rules? Why would I even bother with a Visa then? LOL. I'm trying to get my head around all my options and the god damn jargon those websites spout out.....

1st rule of emigrating to the US - you have to do it from your home country

2nd rule of emigrating to the US - if it's to marry an American then get a good American immigration lawyer to take you through the process

The rules for emigrating are multitudinous and complex, falling foul of even one of them can get you permanently barred from the US

this is a money saving forum, not an immigration forum...

It can cost a few 1000's to get everything processed and done accurately, If one item is wrong on the form, then it'll get rejected and start again

this is THE WRONG PLACE FOR ADVICE ON IMMIGRATION FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCY

every question you've asked, i've gone onto the us government website, and read the answer, so all the information you need is in black and white.

If you can't understand or decipher the legal jargon, then an immigration lawyer is the only way to go.

and the blah blah bit meant exactly that... blah blah, there are so many bits of information you need to have, get hold of, answers to the questions, that i could write pages and pages of my opinion and how i decipher exactly what the US law is saying. then, if it fails, who are you going to blame.. someone who answered a question, on a forum about overseas holidays?

at least with an immigration lawyer, you're going to know everything you need and what you're going to expect before it all happens..

and if you are engaged, you can apply from within the USA, but if this is the FIRST time you've ever met (they do ask these questions) then the immigration people look on that with such a fine toothcomb to ensure it isn't a marriage of convenience, and you're just going to hit the minimum of the requirements. Again, lots of details to go through, but I don't get paid for this, so i'm off to watch the film i'm in the middle of

number 4 is good reading, it tells you a lot!

Wow. Apparently actually DOING something....ANYTHING here is work? Jeez, I wish making figurines for my mantel magically made me money then. WORK is making things to sell. I'm not doing that. I simply said I was making things as a hobby, for gifts etc, with the idea of selling them perhaps once I was legally allowed... You people are just nit-picky and awkward for the sake of being awkward.

Been thinking about it and I'm perfectly in the right place, not doing anything illegal and sick of listening to you going on about how wrong I am and how impossible it is. Buuuuullllsshiiittttt, I call it!

BF has gotten some easier to understand paperwork today which contradicts a lot of stuff you're spouting (no not everyone, thanks to those who have tried to help) not sure which website, but has all the forms etc free to download. This was with the help of someone who has already immigrated from the UK to here, so much more helpful. And I'm well aware of what kind of website it is, but there are a lot more irrelevant posts floating around... I was asking for links to the free forms (as I could only find charged ones) and cheapest ways to do it...so hmmmm. Good one.

Bye bye. Maybe you should visit a site called 'BnB' it's full of women the same as you. :D Have fun!

Oh! I'll let you know how it goes! But you're giving a lot of the wrong information and coming across as very arrogant...
