AFAIK Paypoint is a cash-only operating scheme.

    From Paipont website:
"PayPoint retailers can accept all of the most popular credit and debit cards through their PayPoint terminal for shop goods purchases."

It means, they do not need to hire another terminal for credit/debit card transactions. Instead of, they can use the terminal from Paypoint for "normal" purchases.

I'm afraid, you will not find any retailer who accept paying your CT by credit card.
The best way is just ask your local newsagent.

BTW My council doesn't charge any commission. :T

This was the response from my council:
    Sir

This Council has looked at the use of Paypoint for the payment of Council Tax but decided against it because of the costs involved. The Council would incur direct costs in setting up the process and there would be ongoing costs, which could have an impact on the level of the Council Tax.

Ah well! Guess I'll have to stick to direct debits.

Of course it's a nonsensical response when they can see that many councils do accept this method (and the charges would be the same for all councils presumably). And the same point goes for accepting/not accepting credit cards as a convenient method. He ho, maybe your area's council tax compares favorably to the national average? - in which case you save more that way than by having the option to pay by credit card.

Mm, but in some areas there would be a lot of people wanting to pay by this method, and some areas not many. So, if a lot of people would be paying this way, the cost of set up would be more justifiable.
