Doesn't really help us I'm afraid.

Is the BR code with the job that you get £62 a week from? Did you complete a P46 or hand in a P45 when you started this job?

What tax code (if any) are you using with the job you do with your dad? Are you working as self employed with your dad?

have u had 2 p60's this year?. if you are due a tax refund it is worked out at the end of the tax year on your p60 figures - after your employer has filed a form p35 end of year return - please post your p60 figures and we will try our best to help.
  • I handed in my P45 i got from jobseekers allowance. I only just recently started paying tax, in fact the beginning of this month i started paying tax. Iv been working there for about 8 - 9 months now :s Been working for my dad for about 5 months or so....
I dont have a BR code accept BR1 after "Tax Code" on my wage slip. I have a tax ref if that helps its 10 letters/words long tho.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,

right that makes things more complicatd - if you only started paying tax from 6th april - has your employer had a coding notice? - you need to ask!!!
the tax ref is your employers - you may need this if you contact the revenue.

if you are on a BR code this mean you are not getting your personal allowance (6470) this year - you are gettng this on the employent with your father i would presume. - you should get a p60 by the end of the month - its a legal requirement.

now with regard to your rebate - if you paid no tax last year you wont get anything back, but you need to get your P60 or week 52 payslip with year to date values for tax and gross pay.

this year is more complicated, if you earn £25.00 p/wk = 1300.00 per anum - if you get your personal allowance on this job - and still pay tax on your other job you will be entitled to a rebate,

i would ring the tax office, (but discuss with your dad first) about making the job you do for your dad as your second job as you earn less there and will pay less tax. this will mean your dad wil have to pay tax over to the revenue on your behalf, but not only that it will mean tax on 25.00 would be 5.00 this is less than what you pay now.

in the long run ths will sort itself out but to reclaim anything with regards to the last tax year you Need a set of cast iorn figures.

    hope this helps

Do you mean £62 a week before tax or £62 a week after tax? Do you mean you have a BR tax code for your first job or for your job with your dad or both?

Have you had a notice of coding showing code BR? Your code numbr should be 6475 less moeny from your dad 1300, giving 5175 tax free allowances and code 517L - assuming the info you have given is correct.
I think you need to ring your tax office because we are only guessing and I dont think we have the full picture.

So basically you are working on a self-employed basis for your dad.

As fengirl says you really need to phone HMRC and get this all sorted out.
