I am having trouble viewing various websites like BBC and youtube.

In a few variations, they say I have javascript disabled or the wrong version of flash player.

I have followed the instructions carefully and javascript is enabled through internet options etc

and on you tube I get this

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

I download the latest version and still nothing, including a reboot of the computer.

Any advice ?

Thanks in advance

Try re-setting your internet settings->security - should have the Reset button there.

Alternatively for less hassle use Firefox.
  • Uninstall both Java and Flash, and then re-install from a fresh download. Sounds like one of them has been corrupted.

Are you using Firefox with the NoScript add-on? If you forget to allow/deny content on sites it will sometimes say things like that.

  • You have my sympathy with this problem I had the same thing a few days ago. I went on loads of websites trying to cure it & nothing helped. I installed flash player & it kept saying 'installed' then came up it wasn't working  Now I can't give you a link to where the fix was, but if you try to go on Google street & when it comes up it doesn't work follow all the links it gives you. Theres a technical help bit which you work through trying all different solutions & then at the the end theres a 'if none of this helps try using a different uninstaller' bit. You download something, run it, then manually restart your pc, reinstall flash player & you'll be up & running. Like I say I haven't a link as I found it by accident, but it was definitely on google street.

The flash uninstaller can be found at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html.

As the instructions say, ensure all your web browsers, IM clients etc are closed first!
