Scart cable will not work

Bought a scart cable and it will not work when I test it on my video. When I put my old scart lead on, the video works fine. I do not know whether it is faulty. The seller seems genuine and communication was good. I have e-mailed him to let him know. What should I do in the meantime? Thanks

Post the link to the auction here. If its not a full scart cable then you could have problems. A full scart cable has all pins at both ends wired up, cheaper cables only have a selection of the most commonly used pins wired, which can sometimes cause problems.

When you say it doesnt work, what exactly is happening (or not!)? Are you getting sound but no picture? Picture but in black and white or ghosted?

Here is the link, I am not getting anything on the video channel except weird sound like when your tv aerial is not connected. Again when I re-connect with the one I got, the video channel works fine.

Does not seem to be able to post the link. The description is gold plated 21 pin to pin scart lead all pins connected. It seems to be a full scarlet lead.

have you tried testing it on somebody elses video to make sure it's the cable that's at fault?

I would suspect its faulty, if your original Scart cable works fine. Like SG says, it may be worth testing it on someone elses equipment but really it points to the cable being faulty.

Thanks, will check it again on my friend's vidoe. Thanks for your help. Even if it's faulty, I do not think, it will worth the hassle to re-send it to the seller as the postage will cost as much as the cable itself.
