Please could anyone point me in the right direction to get grey school trousers for my 14 year old son who is unable to do up buttons and zips. School trousers with a completely elasticated waist on approx size 12 years is what I would ideally be able to find for him so that he can do everything for himself at school.
Thank you very much

BHS used to do an elasticated bit at the back at older ages than anyone else, so I don't think mine (without special needs) ever undid the zips or buttons. However I think eventually this petered out.
If he's on the skinny side, then you might find you can buy on the big side and fit some elastic at the back yourself (or get someone else to!)?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
hi
i got some 12 yr girls elasticated from BHS, i am pretty sure they had boys as well? i think the website should show them. My DD cant do buttons as well, and we looked all over for them! They cost £10, although we managed to get them in the sale - £5 each!0 -
Thank you both for taking the time to reply - I will go into BHS tomorrow with my little man and have a good look. I have probably been thinking that I would not be able to find them in the shops and have not given that enough of a chance.
with thanks

I have a daughter 10 with special needs with the same problem. She is at a special school. She wears black joggers as do lots of the children there. Most kids wear the joggers with school polo shirts.0

Hi,
I would try John Lewis for school trousers, my son has same problem and last summer I bought them at John Lewis and they were very helpful.
thanks0 -
Would these work?

Have just remembered that some BHS trousers have internal elastic adjustment, a piece of wide elastic with buttonholes which comes out of the waistband and can be made tighter or looser. That is probably what Js OH has found.
So definitely worth having a good look at trousers even if they don't 'look' elasticated.
Just hope the OP's boy is more cooperative at trying things on than mine ever were ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I have the BHS ones for my son. They are a little large around the waist but i got round this by buying a black *snake* belt (elasticated belt with an S shaped clasp) which means he can pull them up & down without undoing them.
Got the belt from Ebay btw.Autism Mum Survival Kit: Duct tape, Polyfilla, WD40, Batteries (lots of),various chargers, vats of coffee, bacon & wine.0
